About Prodecon:

PRODECON is a decentralized Mexican government organization that will provide Mexican Citizens with taxpaying protection, defense and advice and will make recommendations to the tax authorities.

 

Origins:

In April of 2011, from a list proposed by the President and ratified by the Federal Senate, Ms. Diana Rosalía Bernal Ladrón de Guevara was elected as the First Attorney of the Taxpayer Advocate. She will be in charge of that position for 4 years with possibility of reelection for the same period.

 

Mission:

Guarantee taxpayers Access to Justice in the Federal Tax Justice System, ensuring at the same time the fulfillment of their rights.

 

 

PRODECON

 

Protects:

All Taxpayers, from illegal tax acts and abusive behavior from the tax authorities. (SAT, IMSS, INFONAVIT and COORDINATED AUTHORITIES).

 

Defends:

The Taxpayers affected by tax credits up to 30 times the Mexico City (D.F.) minimum wage raised annually.

 

Monitors:

The Tax Administration best practices, principles and actions to correct them if necessary, in order to strength transparency and improve the service level on behalf of taxpayers.

 

Fast Facts

• Prodecon will help Businessmen serving as a mediator between the tax authorities and the business chambers and confederations.
• Prodecon will assign a Public Defender to taxpayers affected by tax credits up to 30 times the Distrito Federal minimum wage raised annually ($709,122.00).
• The Public Defender will assist taxpayers through the whole legal process.
• Through Monitoring, Prodecon will make specific and generic nonbinding recommendations to the tax authorities. The recommendations will be made based on the information that the taxpayers will provide Prodecon with.
• Prodecon will identify systemic problems affecting taxpayers.
• Prodecon will be integrated by 20 Regional Delegations. Those delegations will have the same functions as the central one.
